George M. “Bud” Hoffman joined the law firm of Carlile Patchen & Murphy on January 1, 2020, after 40 years in the private practice of law in the Central Ohio area. Bud focuses on estate planning, business succession planning, planning for charitable giving, and trust and estate administration services for multiple generations of his clients.
Bud received his law degree (J.D.) from Capital University in 1979 with Order of the Curia honors and received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1976.
Bud is active in several organizations within his profession. As a Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations member, Bud has served as a past chair of the Columbus Bar Association (CBA) Probate Law Committee, served ten years on the CBA Admissions Committee, and has lectured extensively on various probate and tax matters. He is a member of the Westerville Rotary Club, Lawyers Club of Columbus, the Order of Symposiarchs, and the Church of the Messiah in Westerville.
Bud is a long-standing member of the Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Bud is rated Martindale-Hubbell® rating of AV Preeminent®.
Bud and his wife, Debbie, live in Westerville, while their son lives nearby in Sunbury, Ohio. Golf, cars, and travel are among Bud’s interests, as is his desire to continue learning and be of assistance when and where he can.
