Maria C. Mariano Guthrie’s practice focuses on business litigation, real estate litigation,
title insurance defense, creditor’s rights, bankruptcy litigation, receiverships, mechanic’s
lien law, title priority disputes, title agent negligence, contract law, fraud, and foreclosure.
Maria joined Carlile Patchen & Murphy in June 2011, and is a member of CPM’s Business Litigation, Commercial, Bankruptcy, and Business Law Practice Groups. She is co-chair of the Oil and Gas Group.
She is licensed to practice law in Ohio, The United States District Courts for the Northern
and Southern Districts of Ohio; including The United States Bankruptcy Courts for the
Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
Maria has considerable experience in representing large retail clients, financial institutions, individuals, and businesses in litigation matters. She also has experience in premises liability defense, products liability defense, bankruptcy, and shareholder litigation.
Maria was appointed to a two year term for the Bankruptcy Judicial Liaison Committee (2011-2013) of the Columbus Bar Association. This committee is comprised of the Bankruptcy Judges, Trustees, and a small number of highly respected bankruptcy practitioners.

Maria is a member of the American, Ohio, and Columbus Bar Associations, and Ohio Land Title Association. She is also a member of the Bankruptcy Committee and Real Property Committee of the Columbus Bar Association. Maria is a member of the Women Lawyers of Franklin County.
Maria received her undergraduate degree in English at Kent State University and her law degree from Capital University Law School, cum laude.
Maria enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband and three children.
