Jane Higgins Marx

Jane Marx practices estate and business planning, probate, probate litigation, business succession planning, and elder law at Carlile Patchen & Murphy. Jane counsels individuals, business owners, and executives on matters of estate planning, estate and gift taxation, income taxation of trusts and estates, charitable giving, business and probate. She provides comprehensive planning for disability, including counseling on elder law issues. Jane assists executors, trustees, guardians, and other fiduciaries in complying with various legal and fiduciary responsibilities. She joined CPM Law in August 2000.

Jane is a member of the Columbus Bar Association (Estate Planning and Trust Committee and past chair of the Probate Court Committee), The Ohio State Bar Association (member of the Board of Governors of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section, member Elder Law Section Committee), the Columbus Foundation Professional Advisors, The Columbus Estate Planning Council, the Society of Financial Service Professionals Columbus Chapter (vice president), and The Catholic Foundation Professional Advisors Group. Jane was named Top Lawyer by Columbus C.E.O Magazine in 2013-2015. 

Professional Recognition

Jane has received the Martindale-Hubbell rating* of AV® Preeminent™** and has been chosen by Ohio Super Lawyer Magazine as a Rising Star in the January 2009 – January 2013 editions. She is a Fellow of The American College of Trust & Estate Counsel (ACTEC).  Jane was named as a part of Columbus Business First Magazine’s Class of 2014 ‘Forty Under 40’. 

Education

Jane received her law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts in both English Literature and Economics from Denison University, cum laude.

Community Involvement

Jane is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Columbus, a board member of The Legal Aid Society of Columbus, Chair of the Franklin County Guardianship Services Board and a former lector at Our Lady of Victory Church.

Personal Interests

Jane resides in Upper Arlington with husband, Jeff, and two sons. She enjoys cooking, gardening, jogging, and traveling.
