Alan Wernick


Alan Wernick has more than 32 years of experience involving law, technology, business, and auditing. Alan has combined his multidisciplinary skills to focus his practice on the legal areas of technology law, intellectual property law, and privacy law, in both transactions and dispute resolution. He works with his clients to safely, legally, and successfully conduct their business, while limiting the risks of disputes and challenges.

Alan has served as an arbitrator, either as the sole arbitrator, or as a member (often chairman) of a three-member arbitration panel, and as a mediator. The over-whelming majority of these cases have involved complex user and vendor disputes regarding major computer system failures, information technology, licensing, or intellectual property disputes.

Professional Associations and Membership

Alan has received the Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV® Preeminent and is admitted to practice law in Ohio, Illinois, New York and the District of Columbia and several U.S. District Courts, Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.


Alan received a bachelor of science (BS) in accounting from The Ohio State University and went on to receive his juris doctorate (JD) from Capital University. He did further studies at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Alan speaks regularly at major industry conferences and Continuing Legal Education events, and has been published in multiple business and legal publications. He is a thought leader in the areas of technology law, copyright, privacy and cybersecurity. He also publishes a periodic newsletter entitled the ITIP Alert™.
